Wednesday 16th July – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington – sunny periods with light rain.

Foil – 21.40 knot max (year PB), 18.73 knot ave., 5.95 knot hour, 14.50 knot mile, 29.08 km., 14.22 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

After missing yesterdays good winds as we had a brilliant trip in the Harwich pilot boat around a harbour, a once in a lifetime experience I was keen to get on the water today before the breeze disappears! With the wind starting W before turning NW but with high water at 4.11 I was always going to be launching at the Levington with the Orwell low, I arrived at the marina at 7.30 and quickly set up the foil board with 6.5 once again. You can easily launch at low water as I set off at eight and was soon up and flying doing short runs to start with across the river, I even managed a 13 knot mile that included 7 gybes:) It was a little patchy but I did manage to get down to near Felixstowe docks and had no problems getting back even with the tide going out! With it being low the river was particularly flat and I got a good top speed and the best average for awhile. I beat back to the marina entrance and had a few more short runs before calling it a day, pack up and shower and got a little rain and was still home by 11, nice bonus session:) Then we had an afternoon with an old friend, nice day!
